Did You Know...?
The average business waste container can contain up to 28 different waste streams such as paper, cardboard, metals, plastics, textiles and wood items.
With landfill tax increasing every year, the collection costs for business waste containers such as Wheelie Bins, Front End Loading (FEL) will continue to increase, but it doesn’t have too!
The average cost in the UK for a 1100 litre waste bin is approximately £11.00 per week but, how much of its contents could be recycled?

Which means over 75% of the average business waste could be recycled at zero landfill tax!
As most business waste containers often contain large volumes of recyclables, you could needlessly be paying landfill tax on business waste that could easily be recycled. Recycling could also mean your container size is reduced, saving on collection costs and releasing valuable space. You also need to think about what you are not permitted to put in your general waste container.
Do you know, or are you aware of, what you can legally put in your business waste container?

Recycling at your local TRC can also help you avoid the risk of penalties through improper and illegal disposal of items.
If your business waste includes batteries, fluorescent tubes, electrical items and confidential waste - you could be at risk of fines and penalties if it isn’t disposed of legally and correctly. These items are not permitted, by law, to be disposed of within normal business waste containers and can therefore incur fines of up to £10,000 if you are found guilty of committing an offence.
