WEEE (Electrical Wastes)
Electrical waste (WEEE) of any quantity or type is NOT permitted in your general waste containers - however, you can take any of these materials to your local TRC for legal disposal.

WEEE (Electrical) waste is a very broad waste stream and includes, computers, monitors, keyboards and mice, printers, faxes, telephones, toner and inkjet cartridges, faxes, fluorescent tubes and low energy bulbs, small electrical appliances (kettles, toasters, radios), fridges, freezers, microwave ovens,automotive batteries, and other batteries such as Ni-cad, Nickel and lead acid batteries, electrical cable and cut-offs, office fans, water coolers, UPS devices - to mention a few!
Disposal of all of these items is via a premium collection service only and these costs vary widely, but, on average in tne UK you could expect to pay::
- Computers - £10.00 per item
- Computer keyboard & mouse - £5.00 per item
- Computer monitors - £7.50 per item
- Faxes, printers (inkjet and laser) - £8.00 per item
- Fridges, freezers - £14.00 per item
- Microwave ovens - £8.50 per item
- Small electrical appliances (toasters, kettles, radios) - £5.00 per item
- Toner and inkjet cartridges - up to £0.60 per item
- Fluorescent tubes and low energy bulbs - £0.80 per tube
- Batteries (not automotive) - £2.98 per kilo
However, the good news is that all of these WEEE items are accepted by your local TRC.

For Batteries:
- Includes alkaline batteries (A, AA, AAA, etc), rechargeable batteries, button cells (from watches and clocks), walkie talkie batteries.
- Use the Battery Recycling Box for all types of batteries (not car batteries)
- TRC Top Tip 1: No need to wait until your battery box is full, take it your TRC regularly and empty into the TRCs larger bins.
- Alternatively, use our general purpose Recycling Boxes which come in 2 sizes - 40 and 55 litr - and bring along on your next visit.
For Fluorescent Tubes:
- If you have flurorescent tubes ready for waste disposal then bind them together using TRC Bundling Tape - this does not affect the recycling of any waste accepted by your local TRC.
For Small Electrical Items:
- For all your small electrical items we suggest you use our general purpose Recycling Boxes which come in 2 sizes - 40 and 55 litr - they come in two sizes, 40 and 55 litre and are useful for a broad range of recyclables.
